100 minicomputers with audio control were presented by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies (MCIT) to the Visually Impaired People’s Society of Azerbaijan on the International  Day of Visually Impaired People,  November 13.

Addressing the ceremony, head of the Office of the Ministry Vidadi Zeynalov informed that these devices differed from others by not having a monitor and a keyboard and all orders being controlled through a microphone. The software and all orders in the computers are in Azerbaijani.

Minicomputers have been provided with possibilities to become familiar with news in online mode, use an electronic mail, sound electronic texts, receive and answer phone calls by audio orders. Translation of a speech into the Russian and English languages using a computer is also intended for the future.

100 minicomputers have been provided with GSM numbers and 1-year Internet access. 100 more computers will be given to the Visually Impaired People’s Society of Azerbaijan till the end of this year.

Minicomputers have been made by Azerbaijan’s “NeyroTech” company with joint support and order from the MCIT and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Purpose of creating this device was to ensure that blind and visually impaired people have equal rights to use information and communication technologies.
