On February 27, a ceremony was held in Turkey to remember the victims of the Khojaly tragedy, one of the bloodiest tragedies in the Azerbaijani history. The ceremony held at Istanbul’s Gelishim University was attended by members of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, public persons, as well as intelligentsia.
Deputy of the Turkish Parliament Atilla Kaya mentioned that hundreds of innocent people had been mercilessly killed by Armenians in Khojaly. Those taking the floor called on the Turkish youth to struggle against the Armenian propaganda not only on the 26th of February, but always.
At the end, photos printed by the Turkish Representative Office of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and reflecting the Khojaly tragedy were demonstrated.
Another ceremony of remembrance was held on the same day at the Bursa Uludagh University. Jointly organized by the Turkish Representative Office of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Uludagh University’s Turkic World Association, the conference was attended by Bursa city’s leadership, influential scholars, and heads of non-government organizations, professors and students of the university. Those taking the floor talked about the Khojaly genocide, and emphasized that, by the scale and cruelty, this bloody act committed 22 years ago was one of the gravest crimes against the humanity.
