Following the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, the Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, chief coordinator of the Islamic Cooperation Organization’s Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation, presentations dedicated to the Khojaly Genocide are arranged at state entities, youth organizations and high education establishments, within the framework of the international campaign “Justice for Khojaly”, launched in 2008.
The first such presentation this year took place on February 12 at the State Committee for Work with Diaspora. Information was given, during the presentation, about the steps made and various publications, video and other types of propaganda materials prepared within the framework of the international campaign “Justice for Khojaly”.
It was informed that numerous events dedicated to the Khojaly tragedy were held so far in various countries, and wide-scale propaganda and agitation works carried out. Due to the campaign’s work, a number of states’ parliaments officially recognized the Khojaly events as a genocide and condemned Armenia’s aggression against Azerbaijan.
Information was also given about the website “Justice for Khojaly” to be operational as of the next week.
At the end of the event, questions of the Committee employees concerning the activity of the campaign “Justice for Khojaly” were answered, and their proposals and comments heard.
The primary objective of the international campaign “Justice for Khojaly” is to seek adequate political and legal assessment of the Khojaly genocide on an international level, securing justice, and immortalizing the genocide victims’ memory.
It should be noted that with a view to increasing the efficiency of the works carried out by state entities and public organizations, in addition to the campaign’s activity on the international level and strengthening coordination of this activity, Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva founded the “Justice for Khojaly” International Campaign Public Union. In order for the Public Union to convey the true facts about the genocide, various means, along with the resource basis containing detailed information about the Khojaly tragedy, a website acting as an interactive platform allowing to Internet users to take part in the campaign, printed materials about the genocide facts, a presentation in a PowerPoint format, covering all aspects associated with the Khojaly tragedy, and a set of multimedia with photo- and video-materials reflecting after-effects of the genocide have been prepared.
