All-republican Olympiad for information science starts among higher school students

Inauguration of the All-republican Olympiad for information science among higher school students took place at the Ministry of Communication and High Technologies (MCHT), with joint organizational support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Ministry of Education and the Information Technologies Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan.

 

The inauguration ceremony was attended by representatives of MCHT, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Ministry of Education and the Caucasus University.

 

Devoted to May 17, the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, the Olympiad’s objective is to increase higher school students’ knowledge and interest in the sphere of information science and programming, and attract distinguished students in this area to international Olympiads. 

 

The Olympiad will run in two phases.

 

This year, 55 teams from 22 higher schools of the republic were registered via the website www.olimpiada.az to participate in the Olympiad.

 

The Olympiad is being held via the website www.e-olymp.com/az based on the rules of “ACM/ICPC” (An international Olympiad for information science between teams comprising higher school students) and “IOI” (An international Olympiad for information science between pupils). In accordance with the rules, only one team from every education institution with best results shall gain the right to participate in the finals of the Olympiad. Four teams showing best results in the finals shall be declared winners.   

 

The finals will take place on April 30. 

 

Winners will be rewarded with valuable gifts provided by “HP”, “Nar” and “Caspian Telekom” companies, as well as certificates of honour and diplomas by MCHT.
