10th Gabala International Music Festival comes to the end

Held with organizational support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, supported by the Culture Ministry and Gilan Holding, the 10th Gabala International Music Festival ended successfully, August 7. Having become a nice tradition, the festival could this time draw the music world’s attention to Gabala. World-renowned conductors, performers and groups from Russia, Switzerland, Israel, Austria, Cuba, Hungary, Turkey, Spain, Italy and Georgia, as well as well-known music bands of Azerbaijan participated in the music holiday, which started on July 30 and continued 9 days.

 

During the days of festival, music lovers and guests of the town had a chance to watch performances of the Students’ Symphonic Orchestra of the Baku Music Academy named after Uzeir Hajibeyli, the Azerbaijan Sate Symphonic Orchestra, “Jovanes Clasicos Del Son” Group of Cuba, Israel’s virtuoso pianists, young Azerbaijani mugham performers accompanied by “Mugham” Instrumental Ensemble, “Baku Chamber Orchestra” of the Baku Music Academy, “Gaytaghy” Instrumental Ensemble headed by People’s Artist, virtuoso accordion player Anvar Sadykhov, “Budapest Gypsy Band” music group from Hungary, “Clarte” clarinet quartet, Israel’s world-renowned Jerusalem Symphonic Orchestra, and Georgia’s “Big Band” Orchestra. One of the festival’s concerts was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of great Azerbaijani composer Gara Garayev. Thousands of people watched with great interest these concerts, held in the chamber hall of the Heydar Aliyev Congress Centre in Gabala town and on an open scene, as well as in the district’s cultural centre.

 

On August 7, a closing ceremony and the final concert of the 10th Gabala International Music Festival took place in Gabala District Cultural Centre. Representatives of the festival’s organizing entities, MPs, well-known musicians, local music lovers and guests of the town participated in the ceremony.

 

The concert programme “Viva Opera” was presented at the closing ceremony, accompanied by Jerusalem Symphonic Orchestra.

 

Overture from G.Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville” and Don Bazillion’s aria, arias from G.Puchini’s “Gianni Skiki” and “Tosca” operas, waltz by Musette from the opera “Bohema”, aria by Manon from the opera “Manon Lesko” and Intermezzo, aria by Leporello from W.A.Mozart’s “Don Juan” opera, duet by Serlina and Don Juan, arias from G.Verdi’s “Power of Destiny”, “Don Carlos” and “Othello” operas, aria by Werther from the opera “Werther” by J.Massnet and aria by Koroghlu from great composer Uzeir Hajibeyli’s “Koroghlu” opera were performed at the concert, conducted by Spanish composer Salvador Brotons.

 

Performance by soloists Girogi Chelidze (Georgia), Elnara Mammadova, Adil Akhundov, Maharram Huseynov, Chiara Isotto (Italy), Mine Kurtoghlu (Turkey) and People’s Artist Samir Jafarov were welcomed by the audience with applauses.

 

At the end of the concert, all soloists performed together “Brindisi” from the opera “Traviata” by G.Verdi.  

 

The 10th Gabala International Music Festival ended with fireworks.
