An event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan is held in Berlin with the organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation

Opening of an exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of establishing the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan and an official reception took place in Berlin, with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Embassy of Azerbaijan in this country.

 

At the event, attended by Executive Director of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Anar Alakbarov, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Germany Ramin Hasanov, deputies of the Bundestag, representatives of the German government, heads of the diplomatic corps accredited in Germany, representatives of public and political circles, the guests first became familiarized with the exhibition related to the history of the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan.

 

Speaking at the reception held thereafter, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Germany Ramin Hasanov gave information about the activities of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, under the leadership of First Vice-president of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva, both in Azerbaijan and beyond the boundaries of the country, covering various fields. He underscored that the Heydar Aliyev Foundation has been attaching significant importance to exchange of culture with Germany, and that the organization has held a number of scientific and cultural events in this country.

 

Emphasizing that today’s republic is the successor of the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan, the ambassador said such values as democracy, secularism, religious and cultural diversity that Azerbaijan has been endorsing are inherited from the Democratic Republic.

 

Deputy of the Bundestag, chairperson of the Germany – the Sous Caucasus Parliamentary Group Johannes Kahrs, in his speech, said he has been a witness of the great development path Azerbaijan has been through in the course of the 20-year period of his membership in the Bundestag.

 

Special envoy of Germany’s Foreign Ministry for science, education, research and culture policy, Ambassador Heidrun Tempel congratulated Azerbaijan on behalf of the German Government on the 100th jubilee. The German diplomat brought to attention that his country has been cooperating with Azerbaijan in cultural and humanitarian spheres, along with other fields, emphasizing the projects implemented in connection with the 200th anniversary of settling Germans in the South Caucasus.

 

After the speeches, a documentary dedicated to the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan was shown.

 

A music programme performed by renowned musicians Elchin Shirinov and Shahriyar Imanov was presented at the event.
