Artworks of 11 sculptors are demonstrated at the “Music in Stone” 4th International Sculpture Symposium
The artworks created in the framework of the “Music in Stone” 4th International Sculpture Symposium at the Gala Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum were presented on September 30.
The works of art created at this symposium, dedicated to the Nasimi – Poetry, Art and Morality Festival, are about the creativity of Azerbaijani poet and thinker Imadeddin Nasimi, whose 650th anniversary is celebrated this year.
11 sculptors from 8 countries participated in the symposium this time.
Sculptors from Russia, Romania, Belarus, China, Iran, Latvia, Bulgaria and Azerbaijan have created works of art dedicated to Nasimi’s creativity using sandstone on the territory of the Gala Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum Complex.
Saying he was participating in the symposium for the first time, sculptor from Iran Said Ahmad noted that he too, as his other colleagues, joined the symposium with his artwork “A Wing To Fly”, having derived inspiration from the Nasimi creativity. “Making these works takes a certain time. Nevertheless, the result of these hardships is good, we can think. I hope, the artworks demonstrated at this symposium will be interesting and memorable.”
Sculptor from Belarus Aleksey Vrublevski underscored that he is closely acquainted with the Nasimi creativity. Ghazals of the poet have nicely impressed him. Aleksey Vrublevski said that the artwork he has created is mostly the result of the inspiration he drew from Nasimi’s poetry. “This is my first participation in this event. I tried to create a piece of art – “Both worlds can fit within me, but in this world I cannot fit”, which fully reflects Nasimi’s creativity”.
Azerbaijani sculptor Farman Gasymov said he joined the symposium with his work “Consolation”, different and quite interesting. “It is very significant that such an event is held annually. Artisans from various countries coming together at the symposium means also an exchange of art and experience. Another positive feature of it is that artists from foreign countries become closely familiarized with the Nasimi creativity. In short, they convey the poet’s rich creativity through the language of art. I wish successes to all”.
Saying he had participated in such grandiose symposiums in a number of world countries, Russian sculptor Nikolai Karlykhanov noted that he participated with different artworks in each country. As his other colleagues, he too said this symposium will be more interesting and memorable. He said the Nasimi creativity prompted him to create an artwork called “Emanation”.
Joining the symposium with the artwork “The Great Return”, our fellow countryman Ahad Mammadov, underscoring the importance of the works being displayed, said he hoped they will be appreciated by visitors and make contribution to the Nasimi Festival.
