Students completing the distant Chinese language courses are presented certificates at UNEC

On January 22, certificates were presented to students who have successfully completed the distant Chinese language courses organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation at the State Economic University of Azerbaijan (UNEC).

 

Opening the event with an introduction speech, rector of UNEC Adalat Muradov noted the high-level cooperation between the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Azerbaijan. He emphasized that President Ilham Aliyev’s paying special attention to ensure that the Azerbaijani-Chinese relations were on a high level has made today’s event successful. The rector thanked Vice-president of the Foundation Leyla Aliyeva for launching an initiative in connection with arranging distant learning of the Chinese language.

 

After the Foundation’s initiative, we started teaching the Chinese language together with the Beijing Foreign Languages University and the Confucius Institute operating under the Azerbaijan Languages University. It is a rejoicing fact that people have been showing great interest toward learning the Chinese language. We are planning to continue the works associated with teaching of this language. “We have the capacity to attract more people to these lessons”, -said rector Adalat Muradov.

 

Addressing the event, Executive Director of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Anar Alakbarov said that the Chinese language courses were arranged following the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, in particular, the Foundation’s Vice-president Leyla Aliyeva. “As a result of the courses, we saw that people have shown much interest to learning the Chinese language”, said Executive Director of the Foundation Anar Alakbarov. Anar Alakbarov brought to the attention of the audience that there is an intention to continue the initiative of Chinese language courses, enjoying the support of the project’s partners.

 

Representative of the Chinese Embassy in the Republic of Azerbaijan Li Jingsong expressed his confidence that this project would give a chance to more Azerbaijanis to study the Chinese language, recalling that a number of projects have been realized both in Azerbaijan and in China on the initiative and with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Li Jingsong noted that the participants of the ending courses augmented their skills of Chinese language with the knowledge they had received at the lessons.

 

A video trailer reflecting the presentation ceremony held at the university in connection with the start of the lessons on Chinese language courses was shown at the event.

 

Director of the Confucius Institute operating under the Azerbaijan Languages University Rafig Abbasov said that the project in the process of execution would contribute to strengthening of the relations between Azerbaijan and China further.  

 

Head of the Azerbaijani Language Department of the Beijing Foreign Languages University, doctor of philosophy for philology Agshin Aliyev joined the event via a video communication. He told that the project’s implementation is a necessity stemming from the historical relations between Azerbaijan and China.

 

Director of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s International Relations Department Soltan Mammadov gave information about the activities of the entity he was representing in the domain of science and education, underscoring that the project would have a positive impact on the high-level economic, commercial and cultural relations between the two countries.

 

Certificates were presented at the end to those who have completed the courses.

 

Lessons on the distant Chinese courses were launched on September 28, 2019. Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva too participated in the events held in this connection at the university.

 

Lessons at the distant Chinese language courses, meant for those Azerbaijanis who have just started learning the Chinese language, took place 3 times a week, each lesson lasting for 1.5 hours. Trainings on the distant education were conducted on a chargeable basis. Education fees for those in need of social support were paid by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Those participants who had completed the elementary level, which comprised of listening, talking, reading and writing lessons, have gained the skill of holding a simple exchange of thoughts, having mastered the general grammatical structure of the Chinese language. Trainings on a programme lasting for three months were conducted without parting with job.

 

Partners of the project are the Azerbaijan State Economics University, the Confucius Institute operating under the Azerbaijan Languages University and the Beijing Foreign Languages University.
