An exhibition of Azerbaijani carpets to be inaugurated at the headquarters of UNESCO with the organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation

On January 29, an exhibition entitled “New discoveries: new motifs in Azerbaijani carpets” will be inaugurated at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. The event will be realized with the organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Embassy of Azerbaijan in France, and the Permanent Representative Office of Azerbaijan at UNESCO.

This exhibition was first presented within the days of Azerbaijani culture in the French city of Cannes in 2019.

Various carpets were woven over the course of two years, based on the sketches by carpet-maker, People’s artist Eldar Mikayilzadeh, in the framework of the project aiming to establish a new group of Azerbaijani carpets called “Sheki Carpets”. While waving these carpets, motifs related to Sheki, as well as ornaments depicted in the Sheki Kahn’s palace and the Shekikhaniv’s House were used.

The exhibition will be demonstrated until February 4th at the headquarters of UNESCO.
