The project REACT-C19 is launched to strengthen the basic skills associated with measures to combat COVID-19

The project REACT-C19 is launched in order to strengthen the basic skills associated with measures to combat COVID-19 at hospitals in regions of Azerbaijan, following the initiative of the World Health Organization, enjoying the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the State Agency for Mandatory Medical Insurance, the Medical Territorial Divisions Management Union (TABIB) and the Health Ministry. 19 Azerbaijani physicians working in Turkey will be involved in the project. The project aims at rapidly advancing basic skills associated with COVID-19 at hospitals selected in regions for the treatment of people infected by COVID-19 at the moment.

Chairperson of TABIB’s Board of Directors Ramin Bayramly gave this information at a press conference held on April 16.

R.Bayramly also noted: “Mobile or digital technologies are expected to be provided, within the project, at hospitals located in districts in order to conduct accelerated trainings in connection with the application of the system “circulation”, prevention and control of infection, management of the cases of contraction, building intensive care systems, creation of necessary systems for the hospitals’ staff and their long-term maintenance, as well as supporting newly trained personnel at these hospitals. Professionals on prevention and control of the infection, circulation, management of the cases of contraction and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) are included in each of the four staff formed from Azerbaijani physicians coming from Turkey.

Head of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Azerbaijan Hande Harmanci told that these specialists have been trained at leading universities of Turkey, gained practical experiences on the said areas and received necessary instructions. Moreover, they have mastered the skills associated with the management of changes, and fighting the stress. As the physicians and hospital nurses are specialists in their fields, the objective of the trainings was to update and standardise their skills, and provide them with additional innovative means.

Hospitals’ preparatory staffs will conduct trainings at each hospital over the course of two weeks under the leadership of chosen hospital directors and chief physicians. Each team, before embarking on an activity at the next hospital, shall pass the system management responsibility to the staff at the hospital.

Online platform will also be commissioned for the medical staff within the project, and through this platform, they will receive trainings and presentations, video lessons from mentors, and statistical data.”

Director of the International Relations Department of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Soltan Mammadov noted that the Foundation has always supported the advancement of the healthcare system. He talked about the contributions made by the Foundation to the measures taken in the country towards fighting COVID-19.

Coordinator of the project on the area Hamza Zeynaloghlu brought to attention that initially, 16 hospitals were chosen within the framework of the project. H. Zeynaloghlu mentioned that, started with 4 hospitals in Baku, the project will continue in regions. He expressed a hope Azerbaijan will fignt the coronavirus with the least damage.
