Another Memorandum of Understanding is signed between the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and UNICEF

On December 3rd, another Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF).


The Memorandum envisages implementation of various projects in Azerbaijan concerning the development of children in early childhood period, inclusive education, as well as development of juveniles and youth till the end of the year 2025.


In a meeting held with UNICEF’s representative in Azerbaijan Alex Heikens, Executive Director of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Anar Alakbarov gave information about the projects implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in such spheres as education, healthcare, social issues and culture, as well as integration of children in need of special care into the society. It was noted that  performances of a dance group comprised of disabled children will be organized in foreign countries with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, which contributes to building of an inclusive society.  


The significance of the activities of Mehriban Aliyeva, the President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, towards protecting children’s social, healthcare and other rights, including taking care of children in need of special care and those deprived of parental protection, was underscored.


UNICEF’s representative in Azerbaijan Alex Heikens underscored the cooperation in the project “Early Childhood Development”, which is implemented in cooperation with the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, as well as the cooperation on the activities concerning the environment and climate change, green energy sources, and renewable energy areas. Alex Heikens noted that involvement of children in the discussions concerning the “Child Friendship Centres” on protection of child rights, as well as those related to demining on the liberated from occupation territories would be efficient.  


Projects to be implemented together with the Foundation in the field of inclusive education, supporting the disabled and their rehabilitation were also discussed at the meeting.  


The first Memorandum of Understanding between the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation was signed in 2019.
