An exhibition dedicated to National Leader Heydar Aliyev is organized in the administrative building of the Russian State Duma
An exhibition entitled “Heydar Aliyev’s role in strengthening bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Russia” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s National Leader Heydar Aliyev took place at the administrative building of the Russian State Duma, with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
Rich photo-composition reflecting various periods of the National Leader’s life and activities was displayed at the exhibition.
The event was opened by first deputy director general of TASS Agency Mikhail Gusman.
Chairperson of the National Assembly Sahiba Gafarova thanked for the high-level organization of the exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of eminent state person Heydar Aliyev. Underscoring that National Leader Heydar Aliyev had left a fundamental mark in the world policy, S. Gafarova brought to attention that National Leader’s election to the high leadership of Azerbaijan in 1969 was a turning point in the country’s history. Thanks to his purposeful and efficient activity at the time, significant steps were made towards turning Azerbaijan into one of the leading republics.
It was underscored that while National Leader Heydar Aliyev was first deputy chairperson of the USSR Cabinet of Ministers, a member of the Political Bureau, he had significant merits in the modernization of the former Union’s economic and transportation systems, and implementing large infrastructure projects, and from this standpoint, the Baykal-Amur mainline was noted specially.
Talking about National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s matchless contribution to the development of the Azerbaijani statehood, the chairperson of the National Assembly said that this person of genius has played an exclusive role in strengthening of Azerbaijan’s independence and lifting its influence throughout the world. It was noted that thanks to Heydar Aliyev, a law-based, democratic state was established in Azerbaijan, and it is developing. The National Leader of Azerbaijan has laid the foundations of the state’s economic and energy policies, which ensures its participation in large-scale transnational projects. Developed under the leadership of Heydar Aliyev, the oil strategy has been the foundation of the modernization of the oil sector and development of Azerbaijan’s economy in the long-term perspective.
It was noted that the National Leader, having defined main directions of the foreign policy strategy in Azerbaijan, had attached special importance to building kind neighbourhood and friendship relations with Russia. Currently, relations between Azerbaijan and Russia have risen to the level of alliance. Today, all the wills of the National Leader are fulfilled successfully. Azerbaijan has become one of the strong states of the region, and a reliable political and economic partner. In the Patriotic War, Azerbaijan restored its territorial integrity and sovereignty, having liberated its lands from occupation. Large-scale activities are underway, under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, to ensure restoration of historical cities and villages destroyed by the occupiers, and peacefully and safely returning internally displaced people to their permanent places of residence.
Then, chairperson of the State Duma of the Russian Federation’s Federal Assembly Vyacheslav Volodin shared his thoughts about the life and activities of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in his speech. He highly appreciated the activities of Heydar Aliyev in the former USSR and his role in the advancement of the relations between Azerbaijan and Russia.
Speaking at the event, fraction head of the State Duma Gennady Zyuganov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia Polad Bulbuloghlu told their memories and heartfelt words about National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
Members of the Russian State Duma, heads of fractions, members of the public and representatives of the mass media attended the event.
