On June 16, the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Hungary organized a concert of classical music and an exhibition at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Foundation for Support of the Azerbaijani Diaspora, and the State Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Work with Diaspora.

Directed by well-known Azerbaijani conductor, People’s Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan Yalchyn Adygoezalov, Hungary’s famous Szolnok Symphonic Orchestra and young and talented soloist Seljan Nasibli performed works by great Azerbaijani composers Gara Garayev, Fikret Amirov, Niyazi and Asef Zeynally, as well as Hungarian composer Bela Bartok, and Giacomo Puccini.

Representatives of the Hungarian Prime Minister’s office, the National Assembly, ministries of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Defence, Economic Development and Culture, other state entities and diplomatic corps accredited in Budapest, local public and media, members of the Azerbaijani Diaspora, Azerbaijani students studying in Hungary, and other guests attended the event.

The event started by a show of a short documentary dedicated to National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

Then, opening the event, Ambassador Tahir Taghyzade underscored that National Leader Heydar Aliyev had played a significant role in all spheres of the Azerbaijani statehood and society, including promotion of the Azerbaijani music across the world, bringing to attention that the far-sighted policy founded by the National Leader was continued by President Ilham Aliyev. Tahir Taghyzade noted also the successful activity of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation towards promoting Azerbaijani culture around the world under the leadership of First Vice-president Mehriban Aliyeva.

Performances at the concert were applauded by attendees of the event.

After the concert, a photo-exhibition comprised of photos reflecting the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Hungary during the leadership of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev was presented to guests.

Then, the event continued with a dinner-party.
