On September 18, the opening ceremony of the Uzeir Hajibeyli 16th International Music Festival took place at the Azerbaijan State Academic Philharmonic, organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Ministry of Culture.
First, guests became familiar with the exhibition “Tracing our Culture on Patterns”, presented by the Centre for Scientific, Methodical and Professional Development on Culture of the Ministry of Culture, showcased in the foyer of the Philharmonic.
Deputy Minister of Culture Seadet Yusifova spoke at the event.
Thereafter, a concert programme was presented.
The Azerbaijan State Symphonic Orchestra named after U.Hajibeyli (artistic director and chief conductor: Honoured Artist Fuad Ibrahimov), the Azerbaijan State Choir (artistic director and chief conductor: People’s Artist Gulbajy Imanova) , People’s Artist Ulviyya Hajibeyova (piano), Honoured artists Ramil Gasymov (tenor) and Inara Babayeva (soprano), and laureate of international contests Mahir Taghyzade (baritone) performed at the concert.
“Overture” from the opera “Koroghlu”, “Aria by Firuza” from the opera “Firuza” and “Spring song” for the choir and orchestra by U.Hajibeyli, “Cantata”, “National March”, “Jengi” rhapsodies for baritone, choir and orchestra, the ballade “Glory to the Master” by Suleyman Aleskerov, the poem “Dedicated to the Great Master” by Musa Mirzayev, 9 variations dedicated to Uzeir bey by Ertoghrul Javid (arranged for the orchestra by Ayaz Gambarli), “Dedicated to Uzeir bey” by Fikret Amirov, “Ashygsayaghy” by Vasif Allahverdiyev ( the work is dedicated to Uzeir bey), and the symphonic project “Caravan” by Soltan Hajibeyov were performed within the programme.
