A new school building is commissioned by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Khatai district

In this school year too, schools and preschool education institutions newly constructed or basically repaired by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation were commissioned.

One of these projects is the school for 1384 pupils in Khatai district.

The building of Secondary School No.59 named after Tahir Baghyrov was constructed in 1936. Constructed 89 years earlier, the building had worn out and been completely unfit for use, therefore there arose a necessity for the construction of a new building.

Basic renovation and reconstruction of the school was carried out by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in 2024.

Consisting of four buildings, the school is meant for 1036 pupils. Classrooms, laboratories for physics, chemistry and biology, an informatics room, an up-to-date STEAM centre, rooms for military training, first aid, teachers and technology, a library, assembly, sports and gymnastics halls, an outdoor mini-stadium and a sports ground were provided here.

The 2-storied building is meant for 348 pupils. This primary education building accommodates 20 classrooms, informatics and other rooms, a canteen, and a sports hall. The school has been provided with necessary furniture and equipment, with subject rooms and laboratories being equipped with visual aids.

New outdoor sports grounds were built on the territory, and fire safety systems were installed in the building.

Renovation and greenery planting works were carried out in the backyard of the school. Martyrs’ monument was reconstructed.

Acting director of the Baku city Education Department Narmina Huseynova told correspondents that, as the school building had been unfit for education, it was closed last year and repair were works launched. The school staff and pupils had been moved to the neighbouring school: “The school was too small and without repair, where some 1500 pupils were taught. At the moment, a new school with two buildings is commissioned. One of the buildings is meant for the senior school, while the other one will serve the primary school. Today, the school is commissioned for full use”.
