Paris hosts event on the 88th birthday of national leader Heydar Aliyev with the support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation

Event on the 88th birthday of founder of the modern state of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev took place at L'Hôtel national des Invalides in Paris, May 10. The event was organized by the Azerbaijan Embassy to France with the support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

 

In the event, which was attended by the representatives of the Foreign Ministry and Parliament of France, diplomatic missions in Paris, as well as representatives of the French community and Azerbaijanis living and studying in France, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to France Elchin Amirbeyov said national leader Heydar Aliyev’s loving memory will always be honored by the people of Azerbaijan.

 

The Ambassador spoke in details about the essential role and great merits of outstanding political figure, founder of the modern state of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev in strengthening the sovereignty and independence of the country, in establishing stability and building a legal and secular state after the collapse of USSR.

 

He emphasized returning to the power in 1993 upon the nation’s request, Heydar Aliyev achieved a ceasefire with Armenia in 1994. At his initiative, the new constitution of Azerbaijan was adopted in 1995.

 

As result of the great leader’s successful economic and foreign policy, ‘Contract of Century’ was signed in 1994 with foreign petroleum companies, BTC oil and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipelines were accomplished.

 

Thanks to his wise foreign policy, Azerbaijan was admitted into CoE on January 25, 2001, began cooperating with UN, NATO, OSCE, successfully partook in the NATO antiterrorist operations.

 

The event featured a concert by Azerbaijani and French musicians, including Honor Artist, laureate of international contests, pianist Murad Huseynov, who played works by Fikret Emirov, Schumann and Brahms to the accompaniment of Colon Symphonic Orchestra conducted by Laurent Petitgirard.
