President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva to participate in annual meeting of UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors

Goodwill Ambassador, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Friends of Azerbaijani Culture Fund Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva has left for French capital to participate in the annual meeting of UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors to take place inParis on March 3 and 4 at Organization Headquarter.


Reportedly, the meeting will be attended by the world`s famous public and political figures, workers of science and culture including violinist Mstislav Rostropovich, opera singer Montserrat Caballe, princess Lalla Meriyem of Morocco, Grand Duches Marie Teresa of Luxemburg, as well as outstanding worker of culture Omer Zulfu Livanelli, sculptor Zurab Tsereteli and other Goodwill Ambassadors.

 

The Ambassadors will discuss their work and experience over the past year, themes education for all, education for sustainable development, UNESCO`s response to natural disasters and other issues.

 

UNESCO Director-General Koichiro Matsuura will open the session. The Goodwill Ambassadors will participate in the presentation of the United Nations Decade of education for sustainable development.

 

During the meeting, Goodwill Ambassador Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva is expected to present the work done in Azerbaijan with respect to the issues in hand, as well as to have a number of personal meetings.

 

The role of Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva in safeguarding cultural heritage both in Azerbaijan and the Caucasus region, as well as in development of education and sport is highly appreciated by UNESCO.
