Heydar Aliyev Foundation holds next humanitarian action under the project “Best Care to Diabetes-affected Children”

The Heydar Aliyev Foundation has held on June 22 its ordinary humanitarian action within the framework of the Best Care to Diabetes-affected Children project.

Opening the ceremony, Executive Director of the Foundation Anar Alekberov conveyed greetings and best wishes from the President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, and dwelt on the work done since the project Best Care to Diabetes-affected Children was launched on December 7, 2004.


He noted that since the project was launched, the public, related governmental structures, local and foreign companies, as well as the International Diabetes Federation has considerably increased their attention to the problems of the Azerbaijani children suffering from diabetes. Azerbaijan is one of the CIS first countries to adopt the Law "On Diabetes". This law was considered model bill while analogical document was adopted at the meeting of Parliamentary Assembly of CIS held in Saint-Petersburg. Government is now developing a state program on fighting diabetes and required funds will be allocated from budget on its implementation, Anar Alekberov said.


Other speakers - Chairman of the Azerbaijan Diabetic Society Mominat Omarova, representative of the Danish company "Novo Nordisk" in Azerbaijan Rena Guliyeva, expert of the Healthcare Foundation Faig Tagizade and others noted this project initiated by President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva had been welcomed and appreciated by both parents of the children affected by diabetes and international organizations, answered questions of parents.

With the event completed, registered sick children have been provided with 6-months reserve of advanced diabetes products manufactured by Novo Nordisk`s, as well syringes for injection admitting the entry of medicines in the body in easier and exacter manner.
