President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva attends the week ‘Prophylaxis! Protection! Vaccination!’

On April 17, Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador, MP, visited the Children Polyclinic 1 in Nasimi district, Baku, to attend the campaign ‘Prophylaxis! Protection! Vaccination!’ held in Azerbaijan in frame of   the Europe Vaccination Week (April 16-22), project of World Health Organization.


First Lady of Azerbaijan was warmly welcomed by the body of the Polyclinic.

 

Health minister Ogtay Shiraliyev informed the building, constructed in 1890, where the Polyclinic is located, was rendered useless because of indifference, all appliances remained from soviet time were old or out of order. The Polyclinic was not attended for days. Therefore, repair and reconstruction of the Polyclinic in city center started last April. Being paid the wages all the employees were admitted to work in other medical institutions. According to the project, the building has fully been reconstructed, secondary rooms, cabinets created, water, sewage, heat systems reinstalled, medical appliances renovated, new sections created. 

 

Employing 205 people the Polyclinic is available for checkup and treatment of over 19,000 children registered in Nasimi and Yasamal districts.

 

Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva viewed checkup and treatment rooms and cabinets, expressed satisfaction from quality of repair works, modern medical appliances installed, convenience at the waiting room for mothers and children, reconstruction and tree planting works at the yard. She took interest in knowledge and skills of qualified personnel able to use foreign devices.

 

First Lady of Azerbaijan sincerely met with mothers having brought children for next vaccination and their children. 

 

Parents expressed satisfaction of conditions, preventive measures taken in time and quality.

 

As professional doctor and careful mother Mrs Aliyeva personally gave the poliomyelitis vaccines to several kids and presented them toys.   

 

Talking to mothers and nurses of importance of vaccination, Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva said like in every modern country, in Azerbaijan also care about health of children is one of priorities in state policy. She noted the necessity for lifting attention to taking vaccination actions, reducing the level of catching the transmissible diseases, vaccination of more people, first of all of children specially sensible to such diseases, education and awareness of population in this direction.
