An Iftar meal in Moscow

Following the initiative of Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, an evening of Azerbaijan has been organized in Moscow. Supported by the Moscow government, a photo exhibition of Azerbaijan’s religious monuments has been opened by the Russian Council of Muftis in a “Ramadan marquee” built near the Mosque at Poklonnaya Gora.

The guests of the evening organized by the Representative Office of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in the Russian Federation have been presented “Baku”, “AMOR” and “IRS-Naslediye” magazines and a number of publications of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

At the beginning of the ceremony, which brought together employees of Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Russia and a number of other diplomatic missions accredited in Moscow, representatives of the Azerbaijani community and youth, religious persons and guests representing different nations, chairman of  the “Ikhlas” Foundation Anas Mammadov has talked about the significance of the Holy Ramadan and the benefit of keeping the fast. Then the guests watched a documentary entitled “Tolerance in Azerbaijan” made by the State Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Work with Religious Entities based on an idea of Leyla Aliyeva, the Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

A video film made by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation about Azerbaijan was also shown at the event. After reading ayat from Qur’an and evening prayers considered important before Iftar, the guests broke the fast around a 600-person Holiday table.

Let us mention that for the last five years Azerbaijan has taken active part in the “Ramadan marquee” of the Russian Council of Muftis.
