Heydar Aliyev Foundation has donated a unique present to Ulyanovsk. The School was opened on the eve of the visit by Russian President Dmitri Medvedev to Azerbaijan.

Such miracles happen sometimes in our rational time and they base only on the good will and desire for providing a deep knowledge to the growing generation and changing it into a part of the global cultural heritage. The proposal by Mehriban Aliyeva, First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, on the repair of School No.78 in Ulyanovsk was sourced from this wish and care.

Everyone listening once to interesting speeches delivered by Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva in influential international forums is charmed by her culture, intellect, broad mind. This charm is no doubt based on her talent and excellent education. Efforts she makes towards improvement of education in Azerbaijan, Russia, Pakistan, Romania, Holland, Georgia, Egypt and other countries is the continuation of the mission of raising the level of knowledge and culture of the growing generation.  To Heydar Aliyev Foundation, this is to leave a good vestige in life, care about the future of the globe. That was just the future national leader of Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev thought about sending youth from this republic on the coast of Caspian to get education at higher schools of Russia in 1970s. Named after Heydar Aliyev, the Foundation has from the very beginning been operating towards such a goodwill purpose.

By the way, selecting Ulyanovsk is not by chance. Azerbaijan has ancient friendly ties with this region of Russia. First Deputy Chairman of USSR Soviet of Ministers Heydar Aliyev headed in 1983 the state commission on wreck of Aleksandr Suvorov motor ship. Later, Heydar Aliyev developed cooperation with this region as a president of independent Azerbaijan. Population of the region pays huge tribute to the genius leader, his monument has been set in Ulyanovsk, a square in the city is named after Heydar Aliyev.

The total cost of the school repair project is 25mln rubles. The School has changed not in the look only but in content as well. The renewed museum at the School allows pupils to get familiarization with Azerbaijan’s history and culture, library has been enriched, notebooks produced in Azerbaijan have been presented to the School within project ‘1:1 Education for Future’.
