Russian media widely covers Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s gift to children in Ulyanovsk

Russian media has widely covered the reconstruction of Secondary School No.78 in Ulyanovsk City due to support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

Series of materials concerning this significant event were posted on newspapers such as “Izvestiya”, “Nezavisimaya gazeta”, “Rossiyskaya gazeta”, “Tribuna”.

Activity of President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva is highly valued on the press.

“Rossiyskaya gazeta” posted article “Azerbaijan’s gift to children in Ulyanovsk”, which says: “25mln rubles were spent on restoration of the school in Ulyanovsk at the initiative of Azerbaijan’s Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The project was implemented under control of Mehriban Aliyeva, First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation… Over 300 schools have been repaired and built in Azerbaijan, mainly in rural regions due to support of the Foundation. This strategy of Heydar Aliyev Foundation comes to regions of Russia now”.

Ulyanovsk Province Governor Sergey Morozov said: “Our province has been cooperating with Azerbaijan long ago and fruitfully. Residents of the Province well remember participation of President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan together with President of Russia Dmitri Medvedev in the opening of the first shift of the bridge over Volga in 2009. We know that decision on construction of the bridge was adopted in early the 80s of the past century by Heydar Aliyev, the First Deputy of USSR Soviet of Ministers then”.

The newspaper writes: “Other social projects performed at the initiative of Azerbaijan’s Heydar Aliyev Foundation have become a specific bridge between Ulyanovsk and Baku. Monument of eminent statesman Heydar Aliyev has been set in the center of the Province, a Sunday school opened. Local Azeri community sponsors a few orphanages in Ulyanovsk”.

Material titled “Moral relation” published on “Tribuna” newspaper says: “The name of national leader of Azeri people Heydar Aliyev links Ulyanovsk and Baku with firm moral brotherly ties. First Deputy of USSR Soviet of Ministers Heydar Aliyev visited the city on Volga repeatedly. In 1983 he headed the governmental commission on wreck of Aleksandr Suvorov motor vessel. Population in Ulyanovsk well remembers the necessary actions Heydar Aliyev took for the shortest time to remove consequences of that tragedy”.

According to the newspaper, “In 2008, President of Russia Dmitri Medvedev and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of Heydar Aliyev monument in the City. The monument enriches the garden named after the Azerbaijani people’s national leader.

A moral relation between Baku and Ulyanovsk was further strengthened on September 1, 2010. This time thanks to the Foundation named after Heydar Aliyev, the prominent politician of XX century. Acting since 2004, Heydar Aliyev Foundation has opened schools seating more than 100,000 children in Azerbaijan, Russia, Egypt, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Romania and other countries in frame of the educational development programme. A huge number indeed. The Foundation is headed by First Lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva. The spouse of the president is MP, President of Azerbaijani Culture Friends Foundation, President of Gymnastics Federation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO. Despite a hard work schedule, she personally supervises educational centers sponsored by Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Before the repair, School No.78 in Ulyanovsk included several museums – ethnography museum, education museum, Azerbaijan History and Culture Museum. The renovated school will serve enhancement of friendly and cooperative relations between Russia and Azerbaijan. Heydar Aliyev Foundation and its president Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva take close part in establishment of these relations”.
