Influential newspaper ‘pakistan observer’ posts article on Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva’s receiving the ‘Great Woman of xxi Century’ Award

‘Pakistan Observer’, the newspaper published in English in Pakistan and distributed all over the country, posted article ‘The First Lady of Azerbaijan receives the ‘Great Woman of XXI Century’ Award’ on the issue of August 28, 2009.

 

The article comprehensively covers public-political action of Mehriban Aliyeva, First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP, large works she carries out in field of development of world cultural heritage, education, healthcare, culture, religious tolerance and cultural values.  

 

According to the article, Art Director of International Niagara Festival, professor of Toronto Royal Conservatoire Atis Bankas, professor of Moscow Conservatoire, Co-Chairperson of Niagara Festival’s Silk Road Committee Nina Kogan, Silk Road Chamber Band’s Chief Conductor and Chairperson of Silk Road Committee, countryman Ismail Hajiyev and Chief Manager of International Niagara Festival Virginia Mainprise presented proposal to Mr Evans, the President of the American Biography Institute, to nominate Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva for the award.  


The author writes M.Aliyeva has initiated huge projects in field of culture, education and sport.

 

Since 1995, via the Azerbaijani Culture’s Friends Foundation Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva has been initiating expansion of international promotion of her country’s rich culture, realization of festivals, exhibitions, concerts and other events in field of culture, doing significant works towards protection of this wealth on the national and regional levels. To develop Azeri mugham the Mugham Center has been created in Baku on the initiative of Mrs Aliyeva.  

 

The newspaper writes realization of the Azerbaijan Mugham Days in Niagara on the initiative of Mrs Aliyeva became an eminent event in cultural life of North America. She has also initiated formation of the Silk Road Committee in frame of the organizational structure of the Niagara Festival, major goal of which is promoting great music and cultural heritage of Silk Road countries. 

 

Upon recommendation of Mehriban Aliyeva, the Culture and Tourism Ministry of Azerbaijan, the State Committee for Work with Diaspora, Azerbaijani Embassy to Canada and other institutions render financial support to organization of the International Niagara Festival, which plays huge role in integration of Eastern and Western cultural values. Taking into consideration these high services and achievements, the Niagara Festival presented to M.Aliyeva the ‘Rose of the World’ Award, the symbol of the high moral mission carried out towards integration of universal cultures and civilizations to achieve peace and progress in the world.

 

According to the newspaper, Mehriban Aliyeva has received a lot of awards by UNESCO and ISESCO, a number of influential international organizations for contributions she has made to development of global culture, building the cultural and political dialog between Eastern and Western civilizations. As Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO Mrs Aliyeva supports activity of the Organization to safeguard the universal cultural heritage.

 

The author writes since 2006 Heydar Aliyev Foundation has been implementing projects for reconstruction and capital repair of religious monuments in Azerbaijan. Within the ‘Azerbaijan – the Homeland of Tolerance’ project a mosque in Buzovna, catholic and orthodox churches in the country were reconstructed last year.
