The event held in connection with Days of Azerbaijan in the city of Cognac of France within the framework of the project “Cultural Values of Azerbaijan – the Pearl of Caucasus” with support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Embassy of Azerbaijan in France has been covered by local media. In the editions of the “Sud–ouest” and “Charente libre” newspapers dated November 5th and November 6th, information was published about the exhibition held at the city’s art and history museum, where rich exhibits reflecting Azerbaijan’s history, culture and art were displayed. The articles emphasized that the exhibition aroused much interest in local residents. Talking of the exhibition, the articles underlined that the Azerbaijani carpets attracted much attention of visitors.
The “Sud–ouest” newspaper provided its readers detailed information about the visit by Mayor of Cognac Michel Gourinchas at the beginning of October of this year to Azerbaijan, his participation in a wine festival held in the city of Ganja and impression received from the visit.
An article in the “Charente libre” newspaper talked about the meeting of Ambassador Elchin Amirbeyov with Mayor Michel Gourinchas. Bilateral development of relations between France and Azerbaijan was discussed during the meeting.
In the “Sud–ouest” newspaper dated November 6th, an article talking of the event held in connection with our country was given under the title of “Fascinating ceremony”. It is noted in the article that, being one of the former Soviet republics and restoring state independence after its collapse, Azerbaijan is a country located at the crossroad of Asia and Europe. Being displayed at the city’s art and history museum, samples of Azerbaijani culture, music and carpet, in addition to informing of the country’s old and rich history, aroused much interest in residents of Cognac that familiarized themselves with Azerbaijan for the first time, and received detailed information about the subsoil resources of Caucasus and its country with rich cultural heritage. A concert, in which jazz and mugham were performed, also played a significant role in close familiarization of residents of Cognac with the Azerbaijani culture. A young jazzman’s performance amazed the French observer. They welcomed each performance of the jazzman with continuous applauses.
