“Genius Nizami Ganjavi”

Another article has been printed in the French media about the exhibition devoted to Azerbaijani poet of genius Nizami Ganjavi held at the Rein Palace of Strasbourg. Printed in the newspaper “Les dernières nouvelles d'Alsace”, the most influential daily press organ of the Alsace region, the article states that the exhibition had been held with organizational  support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

The author informs that at an exhibition organized under the theme of “A Universal Bridge Linking the 12th and 21st centuries: Nizami Ganjavi’s Creativity”, carpets reflecting illustrations drawn on the basis of the motifs of the poet’s “Khamsa”, daily household items, silver wares and figures, as well as ancient views and contemporary photos of Ganja city, where the great thinker was grown up, were demonstrated. Emphasizing the striking urgency of Nizami Ganjavi’s creativity, the author says that values such as freedom, equality, brotherhood, freedom of belief etc. were the primary themes of the poet’s works.

It is also stated in the article that Azerbaijan, which fixed in its Constitution gender equality, was the first country to grant women the right to vote, during its independence period, which lasted until 1920, in the Muslim Orient.

The author states that Nizami Ganjavi creativity is taught both in secondary and higher schools of Azerbaijan and that one copy of his manuscripts is preserved in Strasbourg Central Library, and his works have been translated into a number of foreign languages, including French.

“The main point striking people visiting the exhibition is the urgency of Nizami Ganjavi’s creativity. This is associated with Azerbaijan’s location on the old Silk Way, which prompted the exchange of music, philosophical ideas and literary works between the East and West”, - is emphasized in the article.

It’s stated at the end of the article that the objective of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, headed by Azerbaijan’s First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, is to promote Azerbaijan in the world, and inform of the contribution this country has made to the world culture.
