Azerbaijan's First Lady is one of the most celebrated personalities of her country

Italy-based Italia Oggi newspaper has issued an article about the multifaceted activities of Azerbaijan`s first lady Mehriban Aliyeva.

The article says that an official website of Mehriban Aliyeva who celebrated her birthday a few days ago has been launched in an updated design.

"The first lady is steadily working to fulfill important missions. The spouse of the President of Azerbaijan has become one of the country's well-known figures due to the important works done by her," the article says.

The article highlights Mehriban Aliyeva's meeting with Pope Francis during her Vatican visit last year and her participation in National Day organized in Azerbaijani pavilion in Milan Expo 2015 World Exhibition recently.

The article says that she is the initiator of important projects in sports, culture, social and other fields. “Her projects always arouse widespread reaction. She is full of ideas to develop Azerbaijan and promote it in the world.”

“Thanks to Mehriban Aliyeva's efforts as President of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation Baku hosted the Gymnastics World Championships in 2005. Having been President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation since 2004, the first lady of Azerbaijan also was a chairperson of the Organizing Committee of the first European Games held in Baku in June this year.”

“She was awarded Heydar Aliyev Order for fruitful activity in the development of culture, education, health and sports in Azerbaijan, the promotion of the cultural heritage of the Azerbaijani people on an international scale and invaluable contribution to the organization of the first European Games,” the article says.
