An exhibition related to Azerbaijan’s culture will open at UNESCO headquarters in Paris with the organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation

An exhibition entitled “Azerbaijan: from Tradition to Modernity” will open at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, with the organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.


City residents and guests will be presented three exhibitions within the project: “Azerbaijan: from Tradition to Modernity”, an exhibition devoted to the “Baku-2015” First European Games and an exhibition called “Contemporary Art of Azerbaijan”.


The official ceremony in connection with the exhibition will take place on the eve of “An Evening of Museums” – on May 13. A concert by young jazz musicians – a group of Shahin Novrasly will be presented at the event. 


At the exposition “Azerbaijan: from Tradition to Modernity”, archaeological finds discovered on the country’s territory, coins used in ancient times and Middle Ages in Azerbaijan, samples of jewellery, copper wares, national music instruments, garments, embroidery and carpet products will be displayed. 


At the exhibition devoted to the Baku-2015 First European Games, small bronze statues made by our young talents, along with well-known sculptors of our country, on 20 types of sports will be demonstrated.


Works by eminent artists will be displayed at the exhibition “Contemporary Art of Azerbaijan”. Here, paintings by Ashraf Murad, Rasim Babayev, Toghrul Narimanbeyov, Darvin Valibeyov, Mammad Karim Gouliyev, Altay Sadykhzadeh, Sabir Chopuroghlu, Elyar Alimirzayev, Museyib Amirov, Niyaz Najafov, Orkhan Huseynov and Faig Ahmad, as well as sculptural works by Leyla Aliyeva, Kanan Aliyev, Ahad Mammadov and Nurlan Mammadov will be displayed. 


On May 6, opening of the exhibition devoted to Garabagh horses and the game Chovken, which is entered on UNESCO’s List of Intangible Cultural Heritage, as well as presentation of the book “Garabagh Horse” (Le Cheval Karabakh) by French writer Jean-Luis Gouraud  will take place. 


As in each year, this year too, “An Evening of Museums” will take place in Europe on May 16. On this day, visiting majority of the museums in Europe will be free of charge. On this day, residents and guests of the city of Paris will have a chance to make themselves acquainted with the exhibition “Azerbaijan: from Tradition to Modernity” free of charge. 


The exhibition “Azerbaijan: from Tradition to Modernity” will continue until May 20.
