Registration for Baku Marathon 2023 to be held on the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation starts

The Baku Marathon 2023 will be held on May 7, following the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Registration for participation in the marathon will take place from March 10 to May 1.

 

Persons over the age of 18 may participate in the competition. Registration will be carried out at registration stations at trade centres in the city of Baku (28 Mall, “Ganjlik Mall” and “Deniz Mall”), and by visiting the website www.marathon.az.  An appropriate questionnaire will have to be filled in during the registration, providing a copy of the identity card (students will have to present a copy of their student’s card additionally) and paying the fee established. Amount of the fee for potential participants is 20 AZN. Those willing to join in a corporate manner may apply writing to the email address [email protected]. For corporate applications, 100 AZN should be paid for each participant (provided that number of the participants is at least 5 persons). As fees to be paid by students will be covered by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, they will not pay any fee during the registration process.

 

The Baku Marathon aims at supporting sports, and promoting a healthy lifestyle. To be held under the slogan “Win the Wind”, the semi-marathon’s distance is 21 kilometres. The points of start and finish will be at the State Flag Square. The itinerary of the marathon: the State Flag Square – the Seaside Boulevard – the Baku International Seaport – Neftchiler Avenue – the Baku White City Boulevard – Khagani Rustamov Street – the Baku White City Boulevard – 8th November Avenue – part of Yusif Safarov Street – cross-section of Afiyaddin Jalilov and Uzeir Hajibeyli streets, Uzeir Hajibeyli Street crossing over Javanshir Bridge – moving along the Neftchiler Avenue (The House of Government, the Museum Centre, the Puppet Theatre, Maiden Tower, “Azneft” Square), Baku Cable Railway, Bayil Square, Bibiheybat Road (Water Sport Palace) and the Seaside Boulevard (behind the Water Sport Palace, Baku Chrystal Hall) – the State Flag Square.

 

Rewarding at the Baku Marathon 2023 will be in two categories. Winners of the 1st place in both men and women categories will earn by 3000 AZN, while the winners of the 2nd place will receive 2000AZN, the winners of the 3rd place to be rewarded with 1000AZN, plus gifts, medals and certificates.

 

Presentation of awards in the nominations of “Be Young” (Azercell) among students crossing the finish line first on the women and men categories, as well as on the nominations “The oldest participant crossing the finish line first”, “A corporate participant crossing the finish line first” and “The most creative costume” are expected to take place. All marathon participants and volunteers providing support in the organization of the competition will be presented certificates. First 2000 participants crossing the finish line will be awarded “Baku Marathon 2023” medals.

 

An entertainment zone will be created at the State Flag Square for the marathon participants, city residents, and guests. Various entertaining programmes, contests and sports events will be held here.

 

The exclusive partner of the Baku Marathon 2023 is “Azercell Telecom”. The marathon is being organized with the support of the Science and Education Ministry, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, KOBIA, SOCAR, Azerlotereya, the Seaside Boulevard Department and the Regional Development Public Association. Execution of the project will be carried out by Sport Marketing Group (SMG).
