6th International Music Festival “Space of Mugam” to be held

6^th International Music Festival “Space of Mugam” will be held, following the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, in the course of June 18 to 25. The Festival will be organized in Baku and Shusha cities. Registration of performers for the Festival will take place during May 1 to 20. Azerbaijan will be represented at this Festival by Mirali Saryzade and Vagif Tahmazov, the winners of the 1^st places on the categories of the profession of singing and instrumental performance at the National Mugham Contest held on April 24 to 27. 

Inauguration of the 6^th International Music Festival “Space of Mugam” will take place at the Heydar Aliyev Palace on June 18. In the framework of the Festival, which will continue until June 25, various events – contests, lectures and presentations, concerts, exhibitions and symposiums – will be organized at various cultural establishments of Baku. On the last day of the Festival, a live mugham marathon will take place in the course of 24 hours. 

An international Jury will determine winners of the 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd places of “Space of Mugam”, and the awardee of Grand-Prix. A ceremony of rewarding the winners and a concert will be held on June 25. 

Tickets for the concerts to be held in Baku during the Festival days may be obtained via the website iTicket.az, as well as at points of sale.   

Following the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, international mugham festivals are organized since 2009. The project aims to once more demonstrate mugham in the context of a world culture, and to immortalize it.
