The 13th Gabala International Music Festival gets underway

On July 27th, inauguration of the 13th Gabala International Music Festival will take place. To continue until August 2nd, the Festival is being held with the organizational activities of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, enjoying the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

 

This time, along with Azerbaijan, world renowned musicians – performers and conductors, music groups from the Great Britain, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia and Turkey - will participate in the Gabala International Music Festival, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

 

The ceremonial opening of the 13th Gabala International Music Festival, organized by People’s artists Farhad Badalbeyli and Murad Adygozalzade, will take place by a concert entitled “Viva Opera”. Soloists – People’s artists Dinara Aliyeva (soprano), Avaz Abdullayev (baritone), Samir Jafarov (tenor), Yusif Eyvazov (tenor) and Honoured artist Sabina Asadova (mezzo-soprano) will perform at the opening concert, accompanied by Honoured artist Eyyub Guliyev and the Azerbaijan State Symphonic Orchestra named after Uzeir Hajibeyli.

 

Interesting programmes will be presented to music lovers at the Festival, which has been organized since 2009. Classical and chamber music and mugham evenings will be organized in the course of one week. The Baku Chamber Orchestra, “Clarte” Clarinet Quartet, “Gaytaghy” Instrumental Ensemble, the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, People’s artists Anvar Sadygov, Farhad Badalbeyli, Gulnaz Ismayilova, Murad Adygozalzade, Ulviyya Hajibeyova, Yegane Akhundova, Honoured artists Emil Afrasiyab, Fuad Ibrahimov, Farida Mammadova, laureates of republican and international contests Atash Garayev, Dennis Hasanov (Russia), Elmina Hasanova, Ali Mammadov, Humay Hajyzade, Mahir Taghyzade, Mustafa Mehmandarov, Nargiz Kangarli, Osman Mustafazade, Rustam Zeynalov, Saida Taghyzade, Umida Abasova, Vurghun Vekilov, talented young soloists, mugham performers, Dmitri Sitkovetski (Great Britain, conductor), Mikhail Lidski (Russia, piano), Henri-David Varema (Estonia, violinist), Mariush Patira (Poland, violoncello) will perform during the days of Festival.

 

90th anniversary of eminent Azerbaijani composer Arif Melikov, 95th anniversary of well-known pianist Bella Davidovich, 150th anniversary of composer-genius Sergey Rachmaninov and 190th anniversary of Johannes Brahms will also be celebrated by special music programmes within the framework of the Festival.  

 

A concert by young performers will take place during the festival days in the framework of the project “Supporting the Youth” by the Azerbaijan State Academic Philharmonic named after Muslim Magomayev, and as well as master classes by Mikhail Lidski (piano) and Henri-David Varema (violoncello).
