Conference “Conflicts in the South Caucasus and Their Outcomes: Khojaly - a Tragedy of One Night” at the Hyperion University

On February 27, a conference entitled “Conflicts in the South Caucasus and Their Outcomes: Khojaly - a Tragedy of One Night” was held, following the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, at the Hyperion University in Bucharest.

 

The event was attended by the University’s management, academics and students, representatives of the Bucharest Writers Association, researchers of the Centre for Prevention of Conflicts, employees of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Romania, representatives of SOCAR in Romania, members of the Azerbaijan-Romania Youth and Cultural Association and the Romania-Azerbaijan Friendship Association, Azerbaijanis living and studying in Romania, as well as representatives of the Turkish-Tatar Assembly.

 

Dean of the Hyperion University’s Legal, Journalism and Psychology Department Ion Marin said such events are of significant importance in terms of giving just assessment of conflicts occurring around the world and delivering the truth to the world society.

 

Director of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s Representative Office in Romania Igbal Hajiyev informed participants of the event about the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Daghlyg Garabagh conflict, and talked of the causes of massacre committed against the people of Azerbaijan and the cunning policy of Armenians and their protectors. I. Hajiyev talked of the works done within the international campaign “Justice for Khojaly!”,  which is being held at the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, the Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

 

Chief researcher of the Centre for Prevention of Conflicts of Romania Lavinia Christiana Lupu talked of the causes of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict and its grave outcomes, and said Armenia’s current president Serge Sargsyan was directly involved in the Khojaly massacre.

 

Then chairperson of the Bucharest Writers Association Horia Gorbea delivered a speech with an interactive presentation called “Daghlyg Garabagh Conflict and Khojaly”.

 

At the end of the event, a short film was shown; participants of the event were distributed brochures and books about the tragedy.
