Basilica of Saint Peter

Basilica of Saint Peter is regarded as the religious centre of the catholic world, being the largest church of the world. On February 28, 2019, an agreement was signed between the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Basilica of Saint Peter on the restoration of the bas-relief “Meeting between Pope Leo I and Atilla the Hun” located in the church, and the mausoleum “Tullius Zetus” in the necropolis of the basilica. Restoration works on the project were completed in 2025.
