President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening of a cultural centre in Turkan Settlement

July 7, a modern culture center built at the initiative of Heydar Aliyev Foundation was inaugurated in Turkan settlement, Baku. Mehriban Aliyeva, Azerbaijan`s First Lady, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP, and her daughter Leila Aliyeva attended the event.

 

Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva and Leila Aliyeva were warmly welcomed in the ceremony.

 

After cutting the red ribbon, the First Lady and her daughter familiarized themselves with the center.

 

They were informed that the construction of the center was started in February 2009 at the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The center covers 1500 square meters, and necessary conditions have been created here for various events to be held. Children in Turkan and neighbor settlements will attend circles at the center.

 

A photo stand has been launched in the center`s foyer featuring national leader Heydar Aliyev`s participation in various cultural events held during both the soviet period and the country`s independence years, meetings with figures of culture.

 

During familiarization with a reading room and library, Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva was informed the library has a collection of books in Azerbaijani, English and Russian languages on various spheres, as well about the great leader, publications by Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

 

The center has a chess circle where children will be taught by experienced specialists.

 

Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva became familiar with a computer class operating in the center. All computers have Internet access.

 

A photo stand on the center`s second floor features the activities of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

 

Azerbaijan`s First Lady saw works by little artists in a painting circle.

 

The second floor includes 250-seat assembly room equipped with latest appliances.

 

The building has a special ventilation system.

 

An amazing park has been built within the territory of the center.

 

Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva and her daughter Leila Aliyeva toured the park. Being here in 2008, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva noted necessity for protection of trees in the territory. Lawn was created here in 7.500 square meters, modern lighting system set, ground and side-shows for kids arranged, tea house for mothers and babies built.

 

The First Lady praised the works done here.

 

Then, Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva met with members of Khazar district’s public.

 

Congratulating residents of Turkan settlement on the opening of the culture center, Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva talked of large reconstruction works underway in Khazar district, like in other regions of the country. New educational institutions, culture centers, rest parks are built and each of us is glad for it. 

 

Underlining the importance of the beautiful park around the center, the First Lady said every circumstance has been created here to have a rest.

 

She stated circles, chess school, art class at the center will enrich children’s outlook on life, improve their knowledge.

 

Highly assessing the works carried out in the district, Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva stressed the state of population here is always on the agenda and under control of Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

 

People’s Artist Aghakhan Abdullayev, elder of the settlement Ali Aliyev, residents of the district Tamilla Muradova, Shukufa Ibrahimova expressed gratitude to the First Lady on behalf of the residents of the district for the care and attention and opening of the culture center in Turkan.

 

Much appreciating Mehriban Aliyeva’s care to culture, education, intellectuals, the attendees said as an MP she always renders huge care to the problems in the district. Large renovation and reconstruction works are implemented in settlements and villages of the district, new social objects and roads constructed, workplaces opened.

 

Residents said they will support Mehriban Aliyeva in the coming parliamentary elections and be pleased to once again see her as an MP in their district.
