Inauguration of the Heydar Aliyev Museum in Gabala

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev arrived March 2 in Gabala region.

 

President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva were sincerely welcomed by residents, presented flowers. They were holding stare flags of Azerbaijan, portraits of great leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev, transparencies reflecting aphorisms by the national leader.

 

President Ilham Aliyev first attended the inauguration of the Heydar Aliyev Museum in Gabala.

 

President cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening, laid flowers on the bust of the national leader.

 

The museum, which will operate as the Gabala branch of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, contains over 200 archival documents and different kinds of books. The facilities include the library, and salon for demonstrating documentaries. The exposition tells on the great leader`s childhood, family, his years of work in the KGB, his activities during two periods of his ruling in Azerbaijan, his work in the USSR government as well as his years of work in Nakhchivan. At the same time, there are photos reflecting national leader`s visits to Gabala and meetings held here in 1978 and 2002.

 

At the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Heydar Aliyev International Electronic Library was created on May 10, 2004. The author of the project is Azerbaijan Newmedia company. The materials reflecting the rich heritage of the great leader were posted on the website. The website contains over 100 thousand documents translated into 25 languages. There are essays on Azerbaijan`s relations with foreign countries, information and researches. The website`s photo gallery includes the great leader`s unique pictures. 10 thousand people from over 100 countries visit the website monthly. The citizens of USA, France, England, Germany and other countries learn much from the website. There is a briefing hall for holding events, trainings and web-conferences. Also schoolchildren will always visit the Museum and get familiarization with rich heritage of the national leader.

 

The President toured the facilities, and signed the guest book.
