The TV Mugham Contest-2005 finalized

Final concert of finalists of `TV Mugam Contest - 2005`, held by `Space` TV on the 120th anniversary of Uzeyir Hajibeyov, was held on June 10 at Muslum Magomayev Azerbaijan State Philharmonic.


Executive director of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Anar Elekberov read address of Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva, President of the Foundation and Friends of Azerbaijani Culture Foundation, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, MP, to the contest participants. The address says:

 

`Dear participants of the mugam contest!

 

Protection, development and popularization of mugam, one of pearls of national music of Azerbaijan, delivery of beauty of mugam, its deep philosophy to future generations is spiritual debt to each of us. It is not by chance that one of multilateral purposes of Heydar Aliyev Foundation named after our great leader is protection and propaganda of our spiritual values, including mugam.

 

Successful steps were taken in this field for last 2 years, meetings, mugam evenings held on propaganda of mugam, `Garabagh singers` music album gracefully released in frame of `Mugam-Irs` project and last August International Mugam Center`s foundation was laid in the coastal National Park due to support of UNESCO.

 

Organization of regular mugam evenings with participation of popular mugam singers by the initiative of the Foundation is welcomed by all lovers of art, national music, this tradition highly valued. It is very pleasant that our young mugam singers also give their contribution to this job.

 

`Mugam Contest - 2005` lasting for several months is coming to end. With successful performance young singers possessed sympathy of audience during this time, beauty of art of mugam was once again shown.

 

On this remarkable and last day of the contest I cordially congratulate all participants, wish success and victory to each of them. I hope you will further strive for development of ancient art of mugam.

Long before the contest started, on February 2, 2005 Mrs Aliyeva invited popular mugam singers of the republic to Heydar Aliyev Foundation and advanced very valuable projects to protect our ancient mugam, deliver the art of singing with rich history to future generations, develop mugam and prepare new generation of singers.

 

Joining this initiative `Space` Independent TV and Radio Company decided to hold the mugam television contest on the 120th anniversary of founder of Azerbaijani professional music, genius Uzeyir Hajibeyov. Jury of the most outstanding masters of mugam listened to nearly 500 young singers from all regions of Azerbaijan and selected 20 of them. The contest started on November 21 was lively broadcasted for more than 100 hours.

 

Concerts were organized with participation of singers getting to final in Shamakhy, Lankaran, Gabala, Ganca, Yevlakh, Sumgayit, Absheron and Azizbeyov districts.

 

In final concert Beyimkhanim Mirzayeva, Vefa Orujova, Ilkin Ahmadov, Teyyar Bayramov, Gochag Asgerov, Elnur Zeinalov, Elshad Aydinoglu, Pervaz Ibrahimli, Zulfiyya Mammadova, Aytan Maharramova, Gulnar Isayeva, Babek Niftaliyev, as well previous participants of the contest performed.

 

Services of thar player Elchin Hashimov and kaman player Elnur Ahmadov, laureates of `Humay` award, as well naghara player Kamran Kerimov that accompanied the singers all the contest and have big trouble in preparation of their performances were underlined.

 

Jury members - people`s artists Arif Babayev, Agakhan Abdullayev, Ramiz Guliyev, Mensum Ibrahimov and Mohlat Muslumov, honored figure of art, professor Ramiz Zohrabov, poet, Fuzuli critic Hekim Geni and author of mugam television contest Nadir Akhundov had great services in selection of singers, professional and fair evaluation of performances.

 

According to voting of audience and jury, Teyyar Bayramov took 1st place, Ilkin Ahmadov 2nd and Babek Niftaliyev 3rd places and they were granted diplomas, prizes, respectively 2000, 1500 and 1000-AZN checks on behalf of Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Friends of Azerbaijani Culture Foundation.

 

Diplomas and 500 AZN money awards were granted to each of other 9 participants.

 

Thanks were expressed on behalf of the organizers to Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Friends of Azerbaijani Culture Foundation, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, MP, for supporting the contest.
