An exhibition and a concert was held in the city of Chablis of France in connection with Days of Azerbaijan

An exhibition and a concert was held, March 2nd, with organizational support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and assistance by the Embassy of Azerbaijan, within the framework of the project “Cultural Treasures of Azerbaijan – the Pearl of Caucasus”, in the Chablis city of France’s Bourgon region.

Opening the exhibition, city Mayor Patrick Gendron said culture played a special role in building relations.

Noting the significance of economic cooperation as one of the major examples of  rapprochement between countries, Patrick Gendron said, with developed wine-growing, wine-making and cattle-breeding, this region was interested in building economic relations with Azerbaijan.

The Mayor said negotiations are being held between France’s Auxerre, Vesele and Chablis cities and Azerbaijan’s Shamkir, Baku and Goygol cities towards building mutual relations.

Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to France Elchin Amirbayov said the exhibition and concert were part of the project “Cultural Treasures of Azerbaijan – the Pearl of Caucasus” being held with organizational support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation to acquaint the French with our country, and this event has been held since the end of 2012 in a number of French cities.

The Ambassador said a decision was made to hold exhibition of various samples of cultural treasures of  Azerbaijan, and a concert to promote Azerbaijan in France, and informed of our country’s geographical location.

Underlining that Azerbaijan was rich not only in oil and gas, but also overground resources, including cultural treasures, E.Amirbayov said the exhibits displayed at the exhibition were obvious example of it.

Guests and city residents acquainted themselves with the exhibits being displayed at the exhibition. They were distributed albums and brochures talking of Azerbaijan’s history, culture, as well as tourism opportunities.

Then a concert took place at the city’s Saint Martin church. Opening the concert, President of the Central Council of the Yonne Department, where the city of Chablis is located,  Andre Villié said due to the exhibition the city public received certain information about our country, and  emphasized that the exhibits being displayed here have indeed drew attention with Azerbaijan’s extraordinary cultural heritage. Bringing to attention that Azerbaijan’s rapid economic development allows building all-round relations with other countries, André Villié said despite the long distance between Azerbaijan and France, such events were essential in rapprochement between the two nations.

Thanking the city officials and residents for hospitality, Ambassador Elchin Amirbayov   said the concert program was prepared on the basis of our nation’s classic music traditions, and its objective was to acquaint the French with our country’s history and rich cultural values, and underlined the significance of these events for rapprochement between nations and building friendly ties. Mentioning our country’s regain of independence in 1991 and embarking on a path of democratic development, E.Amirbayov said France occupied the second place in cooperation with Azerbaijan in the sphere of trade, and that our country was interested in building wide multilateral relations with France, one of the most developed countries of Europe, in economic, political and cultural spheres.
