The 5th Gabala International Music Festival starts with organizational support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation

On July 24, the 5th Gabala International Music Festival started in Azerbaijan with organizational support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.


At the ceremony, the letter of congratulations by Mehriban Aliyeva, the First Lady of Azerbaijan, the President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, was read to the participants of the Festival.


The letter states: “Respected participants of the Festival. Dear friends! I would like to welcome you – the participants of the 5th Gabala International Music Festival - and wish every success to the Festival and deliver my best wishes to each of you. Interaction of world cultures have in all periods been of tremendous significance in public and political processes of the world, and in the dialogue of civilizations. Just due to the purposeful activity of persons of culture, a successful outcome of dialogue has been reached, by preventing the conflict of world cultures. 


Cultural relegations between nations, mutual cultural integration have always been among the priorities of Azerbaijan’s interstate policy. Through our culture, we have managed to introduce our culture to the world, and now the whole international society shows great interest towards Azerbaijan’s culture. As a goodwill ambassador of UNESCO, I will continue supporting projects on promotion of our nation’s cultural heritage that has enriched the world cultural treasure with very valuable works, as well projects serving introduction of samples of world culture in our country and increasing effectiveness of cultural and moral integration between nations.


With its year-by-year increasing influence, holding of the Gabala International Music Festival has become a tradition. Today the name of Gabala is listed along with the names of cities, where international events are held. With numerous musicians coming from around the world, this holiday of friendship and music has been contributing to strengthening of the dialogue among cultures, by creating favourable conditions for relations and cooperation with musicians representing different countries, while preserving the rich traditions of our culture. I am hopeful this Festival, in which works by Azerbaijani and world composers will be performed, and the unity of the fascinating  nature and charming music will have nice impression on each of you. I would like to wish endless achievements to everyone participating in this Festival.


A concert by the Azerbaijan State Symphonic Orchestra named after Uzeir Hajibeyli took place on a scene built in the open air.


Polonaise from Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin”, “Ballet Suite” by Turker Gasymzadeh, “Divertissement” by Ayaz Gambarli, symphonic gravures of “Don Quixote” by Gara Garayev, “The Epos about Nasimi” symphonic poem by Fikret Amirov and pieces from “Azerbaijan” symphonic poem by Karam Akbarov were performed at the concert.


Eminent musicians, artistic groups, soloists and conductors from Azerbaijan and foreign countries will participate in the music holiday to take place in Gabala city from July 24th to August 6th
