An exhibition to mark the 55th jubilee of Honoured Artist Sakit Mammadov opens at the Heydar Aliyev Center

On December 2, an exhibition of Honoured Artist Sakit Mammadov entitled “The World of Colours” opened  at the Heydar Aliyev Center.

 

Organized jointly by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Heydar Aliyev Center, the exhibition is devoted to the 55th jubilee of Sakit Mammadov. 55 works by the artist is displayed at the exhibition.

 

At the inauguration of the exhibition, chairperson of the Milli Majlis Committee for Regional Affairs Arif Rahimzadeh talked of the artist’s rich creativity, and his contribution to the Azerbaijani art.

 

Rector of the Azerbaijan Architecture and Construction University, deputy of the Milli Majlis Guljohra Mammadova, academic of Turkey’s Yeddi Tepe University, artist Rafig Aziz, people’s Artist Salhab Mammadov and others talked about Sakit Mammadov’s creative features.

 

At the inauguration, Honoured Artist Sakit Mammadov was presented awards of UNESCO and Turkey’s Yeddi Tepe University.

 

Sakit Mammadov thanked the organizers and participants of the exhibition.

 

In 1978, Sakit Mammadov finished the Azerbaijan State School of Arts named after A.Azimzadeh; in 1987, he graduated from  the Saint Petersburg Academy of Arts named after I.Repin. To date, the artist’s works have been displayed at 37 exhibitions. His 6 individual exhibitions were held in Istanbul, Stockholm, Baku, Moscow and Brussels.

 

By an order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Honoured Artist Sakit Mammadov was decorated with the Order of “Glory”. He is a member of UNESCO Union of Artists and the Russian Imperial Academy of Arts.

 

Such works by the artist as “Small clowns”, “May”, “A gardener”,  “Flowering Azerbaijan”, “I am tired”, “Preparation for a scene”, “Going to an engagement ceremony”, “Actress”, “Lady-friends”  etc. are displayed at the exhibition, which will continue through December 13.
