Presentation of the movie “Arshyn mal alan” restored at the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s initiative took place in a coloured format

Premiere of  the movie “Arshyn mal alan” restored at the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s initiative took place in a coloured format at the Heydar Aliyev Center, December 10.

Before the demonstration of the movie, a video film of the speech by Azerbaijani people’s national leader Heydar Aliyev about the movie “Arshyn mal alan” and the significance of restoring the movie was demonstrated. “A state-of-the-art technology allows to restore a film to its original condition. It should definitely be done. The movie “Arshyn mal alan” is one of the greatest achievements of Azerbaijan’s culture history. Therefore, this movie should always live. The movie should live so that future generations see what a great person Uzeir Hajibeyov was, what a great movie director Rza Tahmasib was, and what a talented singer Rashid Behbudov was”, - said the national leader in his speech.

Then the audience watched the movie.

Being a legend of Azerbaijan’s movie art, the movie “Arshyn mal alan” was made in 1945, in a black-and-white format, based on Uzeir Hajibeyli’s operetta with the same name.  In a movie directed by Rza Tahmasib and Nikolay Leshenko, leading figures such as Rashid Behbudov, Leyla Badirbeyli, Munavvar Kalantarli and Lutfali Abdullayev acted.

The movie “Arshyn mal alan” was restored and coloured at “Hollywood”, the hub of the world movie art, at the initiative of and with support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. A team of 157 specialists from Asia, Europe and America worked on this project, which was completed within nine months. Among them were also movie specialists from Azerbaijan, along with Oscar winners.
