Representation of Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Russia organizes personal exhibition of Azerbaijani artist Asgar Mammadov in Moscow

Personal exhibition of People’s Artist of the Russian Federation, member of the Russian Union of Artists, International Federation of Artists and Russian Union of Cinematographers Asgar Mammadov was launched at the White Hall of the Library of Foreign Literature in Moscow.


The exhibition, called Two Wings of the Heart, was organized by the Representation of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Russia, Library of Foreign Literature and Azerbaijan Culture Centre due to support of Azerbaijan`s Embassy in Moscow.

Speaking to the event, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu thanked the Moscow Representation of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Library of Foreign Literature “for this opportunity to familiarize the Russian society with high art of the Azerbaijani artist, who praises the beauty of his motherland as well as Russia, the country he has been living in for many years”. The Ambassador said the exhibition was “a remarkable event in terms of the interpenetration of our cultures through the unique art of Asgar Mammadov”.


Director General of the Library of Foreign Literature Ekaterina Geniyeva expressed gratitude to the Representation of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation for establishing the Azerbaijan Culture Centre at the Library and holding such wonderful events. She congratulated A.Mammadov on the opening of his exhibition, emphasizing his unique talent. E.Geniyeva read out a congratulatory message of the Russian Culture Minister Alexander Avdeyev.


Congratulatory messages from Director of the Azerbaijan Culture Centre Nisa Mustafayeva, Chairman of the Russian Union of Cinematographers Nikita Mikhalkov, colleagues, friends and fans of Asgar Mammadov were also read out at the event.


A.Mammadov thanked the Representation of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Moscow and the Foundation’s Vice-President Mrs Leyla Aliyeva for organizing the exhibition and all the people for supporting this initiative. The artist mentioned he has always been inspired by the eternal humane values – love and friendship. He said the name of his exhibition – Two Wings of the Heart – symbolizes Azerbaijan and Russia.


The exhibition features nearly 50 works by Asgar Mammadov, including those reflecting the Khojaly tragedy, Garabagh stories, different periods of Azerbaijan’s history. Works depicting the cut pomegranate symbolizing the broken heart, “Sary Gelin”, as well Russian winter, birches, Russian north caught special attention. 


The painter`s works have been on display in Moscow, Baku, Turkey, Spain, Israel, Germany and Cyprus. Many of his works enrich personal collections and galleries all over the world.


The exhibition will be closed March 11, 2012.
