On January 21, opening of the Mahsati Ganjavi Centre, built with support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, took place in the city of Ganja.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the inauguration.

Constructed in a classical architecture style, the building accommodates an art gallery devoted to the poetess’s creativity, a reading room for researchers, and other auxiliary rooms. The reading room has been provided with books about the life and activity of national leader Heydar Aliyev, President Ilham Aliyev and President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva. In an electronic kiosk created here, rubáiyáts by Mahsati are presented in the Azerbaijani, Russian and English languages. Also books throwing light upon the literary legacy of Nizami and Mahsati, as well as the richness of Azerbaijani carpets are displayed here. Photos from the exhibitions and concerts held in connection with the 900th jubilee of Mahsati Ganjavi, with organizational support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, in the cities of Reims and Melouse of France in November and December last year are also exhibited here.

An exhibition of national musical instruments has been created at the Centre. Here, one can receive broad information about Azerbaijan’s eminent poets and thinkers, as well as its music, along with Mahsati Ganjavi’s life and creativity. In a national garments exhibition of the Centre, national garments related to the Mahsati time, in particular, those inherent to ladies of the Renaissance Period are exhibited. And in an art gallery, various displays devoted to Mahsati Ganjavi image and her rubáiyáts, as well as samples of art and monumental works are exhibited. A monument to the poetess has been erected in the Mahsati room. Miniatures and art works are presented here, using a projector. There are also a music studio, a notes library, and mugham and piano sections at the Centre.
