The 7th International Mstislav Rostropovich Festival starts in Baku
On May 12, inauguration of the 7th International Mstislav Rostropovich Festival took place at the State Philharmonic Society of Azerbaijan named after Muslim Magomayev.
The Festival is held with the joint support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the M.L.Rostropovich Culture and Humanitarian Programs Foundation.
Artistic director of the festival, which will continue until May 18, is Olga Rostropovich, the daughter of the world-renowned musician.
The State Symphonic Orchestra of Azerbaijan named after Uzeir Hajibeyli under the direction of People’s Artist Rauf Abdullayev, and the State Choir of Azerbaijan under the direction of People’s Artist Gulbaji Imanova performed at the opening ceremony.
World-renowned musicians and music groups are participating in this festival, being held since 2007 in Baku.
