V International Mstislav Rostropovich Festival in Baku ends

V International Mstislav Rostropovich Festival organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Mstislav Rostropovich Foundation ended on December 10.


Assessing the Festival as a big cultural event, Chief of Art Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Farah Aliyeva said the aim of the event is to organize performances of prominent art masters in Rostropovich’s motherland.


 “The International Festival, initiated by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, is held as a music holiday every December in Baku,” F.Aliyeva added. The seven-day Festival features works by the world classics performed by prominent musicians and music bands. This tradition will successfully be continued.


The Festival was closed with the performance of the Paris Chamber Orchestra conducted by Lawrence Foster (USA) at the Muslum Magomayev Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Hall. The soloist was French pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet.


The Orchestra played works by Gabriel Fauré, Charles-Camille Saint-Saëns, Igor Stravinsky and Franz Schubert.
