Inauguration of the Nasimi Festival takes place

On September 28, inauguration of the Nasimi - Poetry, Art and Morality Festival took place at the Heydar Aliyev Centre.

 

Examples from the Nasimi’s creativity were presented at the opening concert, joined by eminent cultural figures, as well as music lovers.

 

Lead by People’s Artist Fakhraddin Kerimov, the Azerbaijan State Symphonic Orchestra and the State Choir performed pieces from renowned composer Fikret Amirov’s “Nasimi Epos” and Ismail Hajibeyov’s “Memorial” works.

 

British singer of Azerbaijani descent Sami Yusuf’s performance made the evening more colourful. Along with singing his most popular compositions, Sami Yusuf, who has created the unity of the East and West in his performances, underscored the significance of the Festival and, thanking the organizers, talked about the Nasimi poetry’s immortality. His new composition dedicated to Nasimi and the Azerbaijani folk song “Sary Gelin”, performed by him, were welcomed with applauses.

 

At the evening was also presented the song “Dua” composed by Azerbaijan’s Honoured Artist Tunzala Aghayeva.

 

At the event organized at the Heydar Aliyev Centre, the ancient music instruments ensemble “Echoes of Centuries” under the National Conservatoire of Azerbaijan performed with a special project. The repertoire of the ensemble comprised new arrangements by contemporary composers on the basis of compositions by Abdulgadir Maraghai, a renowned Azerbaijani musician of the 14th -15th centuries.

 

The Festival will come to the end on September 30.
