The term of the competition for erecting a monument to Hajji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev is prolonged

The term for submission of projects to the open sculpture competition associated with making a statue of Hajji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev, called for by the Culture Ministry of Azerbaijan, the Baku City Executive Authority and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, was extended till August 31st.

 

This decision was taken based on the letter by rector of the Azerbaijan State Art Academy, academician Omar Eldarov to the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and appeals of a number of sculptors. In the appeals, they requested that the term of the competition be extended to allow them to finish the works on sketches.

 

The statue of Hajji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev will be erected on a square near the underground station “Icherisheher” (Istiglaliyyat Street).

 

An application and sketches should be submitted to participate in the competition.

 

Terms and conditions for participation in the competition:

 

• Professional sculptors working in the areas of landscape designing, garden-park and town architecture can participate in the competition.

 

• Contenders shall submit their applications using the special form designed for participation in the competition. The application should be completed directly by the contender him/herself. All items of the application should definitely be filled out. Only those sketches of which copyrights belong to the contender personally shall be accepted.

 

• Documents and materials sent by the contenders shall not be returned, and no payment shall be made for them. Responsibility for violation of copyrights (plagiarism) shall rest on the person who has sent such materials to the competition.

 

• A contender, by submitting the application and at least two sketches (models) of the creative idea for revision (submission electronically is also allowed), becomes a participant of the selection phase. The application and sketches (models) for participation shall be submitted to the Heydar Aliyev Centre (1, Heydar Aliyev Avenue, Baku city), or sent to [email protected] by email.

 

• The organizing committee of the competition will determine one winner among the applications and sketches submitted. Selection of competition participants shall be carried out based on the following criteria: consistency with the topic, professional level of the author’s view and performance, and compliance of the composition submitted to the material’s treatment technology.

Each statue may be made solely by a single author, or by co-authors. The number of co-authors should not exceed 3.

 

Erection of the statue will be carried out in the place chosen by the organizer of the competition, under direct supervision of the author or a person authorized by him/her.

6. Mahabbat Mehdiyeva – department director at the Heydar Aliyev Centre, Honoured person of art

 

7. Akif Asgerov – People’s artist, sculptor, professor

 

8. Rahiba Aliyeva – head of the department for Protection and Restoration of Architectural Monuments at the Institute of Architecture and Art under the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, doctor of philosophy for architecture

 

9. Galib Gasymov – head of the Fine and Decorative Arts Department of the Culture Ministry of Azerbaijan, art critic.
