National Mugham Contest comes to an end

On April 30, names of the winners of the National Mugham Contest were announced at the Azerbaijan National Conservatoire, and awards were presented to them.

 

The Contest was realized with the organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Culture Ministry, enjoying the support of the Azerbaijan National Conservatoire.

 

First, the Jury of the contest were presented.

 

It was underscored that the National Mugham Contest was held on the categories of profession of singing and instrumental performance. The chairman of the Jury on the instrumental performance is Rector of the National Conservatoire, People’s Artist Siyavush Karimi, with members of the Jury being Peoples’ artists Fakhraddin Dadashov, Mohlat Muslimov, and Honoured artists Shirzad Fataliyev and Chinara Heydarova.

 

The chairman of the Jury on the profession of singing is Rector of the National Conservatoire, People’s Artist Siyavush Karimi, with members of the Jury being People’s artists Sakina Ismayilova, Mansum Ibrahimov, Zabit Nabizade, and Honoured artist Gazanfar Abbasov.

 

It was brought to attention that singers (khanendehs) and instrumental performers aged 18 to 35 had applied to participate in the music contest. After the preliminary selection rounds, 38 persons were chosen to participate. Of the 38 participants, 20 competed on the category of profession of singing, while 18 of them tried their abilities in instrumental performance. The first round of the contest took place on April 24 and 25, with the second round being held on April 26. And today, winners of the contest will be announced.

 

Firstly, diploma awardees were invited to the scene, and were awarded.

 

According the unanimous opinion of the Jury, the 1st place on the profession of singing went to Mirali Saryzade. Khayal Huseynov was awarded the 2nd place, with Zumrud Mammadova and Dashgyn Kurchayly being honoured with the 3rd place.

 

Vagif Tahmazov was awarded the 1st place on the instrumental performance, with Jahandar Mikayilov being honoured with the 2nd place, and Bayramali Aliyev and Soltan Nadirov being awarded the 3rd place.

 

In the categories of profession of singing and instrumental performance, each winner of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places won 7,000, 5,000 and 3,000 AZN, respectively.

 

The winners of the National Mugham Contest – the participants who took the 1st place on the categories of profession of singing and instrumental performance – will represent our country at the 6th International Mugham Festival.

 

Then, the winners performed with a gala-concert programme.
