A concert programme of the Space of Mugam 6th International Music Festival takes place in Shusha

On June 23, the Space of Mugam 6th International Music Festival continued with various concert programmes in Shusha, the cultural capital of Azerbaijan.

 

Sound of mugham was heard from various places of Shusha, from territories where cultural and ancient historical monuments are located. Concert programmes were presented at the same time before the Centre of Creativity and Khurshidbanu Natavan’s house in Shusha, as well as in the house-museum of Bulbul, and in the park before Karabakh Hotel.

 

The first concert within the festival took place at the Creativity Centre in Shusha. Renowned singers performed music compositions - Nazaket Teymurova “Bayaty-Shiraz”, Firuz Saxavet “Mahur-Hindi”, Jabir Abdullayev “Zabul-Segah” desgahs, and Nuriyya Huseynova “Chahargah”.

 

Another concert programme was held before the house of Khurshidbanu Natavan. Ilkin Ahmadov, Gulyaz Mammadova, Almaz Orujova and Gulustan Aliyeva performed within the framework of the programme.  

 

Then, a concert programme was arranged at the house-museum of Bulbul and in the park before Karabakh Hotel. Renowned performers Gulyanag Mammadova, Melekkhanum, Eyyubova, Mansum Ibrahimov, Simara Imanova, Gazanfar Abbadov, Mutallim Demirov and Gulnar Gudretli presented tesnifs “Khudayar”, “Bayaty-Shiraz”, “Segah”, “Mahur” and other mughams and tesnifs, and popular songs.

 

Participants of the festival and guests coming from other countries became familiar with our historical and cultural monuments in Shusha city. Guests were given information about the reconstruction works carried out in Shusha. It was noted that over the course of 30-year occupation period, historical buildings, mosques and monuments were subjected to Armenian vandalism.

 

Launched on June 18, the 6th International Music Festival will end by a concert programme at the Heydar Aliyev Centre on June 25.  

 

First International Mugham Festival was held in Baku in 2009, on the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Since then, the Space of Mugam International Music Festival has turned into a large-scale cultural event regularly held in the music life of Azerbaijan. Renowned musicians and researchers from around the world have participated in these festivals. Concerts were held within the framework of the festival both in Baku and in a number of other regions of Azerbaijan with participation of Azerbaijani and foreign musicians, organizing international mugham contests, international scientific symposiums, and master classes. Representatives from the Great Britain, Afghanistan, India, Jordan, Iran, Israel, Mali, Egypt, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Türkiye and Greece were invited to this year’s festival, along with Azerbaijan.

 

It is for the first time that concerts of the Space of Mugam International Music Festival are held in Shusha, after it was liberated from the occupation.
