“Mugham Narrations” are presented at the International Music Festival

Another concert programme in the framework of the Space of Mugam 6^th International Music Festival was organized at the National Conservatoire of Azerbaijan, June 24.

At a concert entitled “Mugham Narrations” Project performed renowned Azerbaijani singer, People’s Artist Teyyub Aslanov and Jazz pianist Nijat Aslanov. The performers were accompanied at the concert by Aliagha Sadiyev on tar, Ruslan Huseynov on double-bass, and Tofig Jabbarov and Hasan Bilalov on percussion instruments. A synthesis of Azerbaijani mughams with a modern Jazz music was presented to the audience by the programme.

Giving an interview before the concert, singer Teyyub Aslanov shared his impressions of the festival, saying: ”It is very pleasing that such important projects have been implemented for a number of years. We thank all the organizations, in particular, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, including the Ministry of Culture, for this initiative. A high-level music contest was held also within the framework of the festival. Today, you will be a witness of a grandiose synthesis of mugham with Jazz here”.

Soloist of the State Ensemble of Ancient Music Instruments, singer, People’s Artist Teyyub Aslanov has participated in a number of concerts and festivals together with the Azerbaijani Mugham Trio and various music groups since 1995. He is an associate professor of the State University of Culture and Art of Azerbaijan, the head of the department Art of Mugham.

A graduate of the Faculty of Piano-forte of the Baku Music Academy named after Uzeir Hajibeyli, Nijat Aslanov is a talented Jazz performer. The musician had his first performance at the Baku Jazz Centre.

Starting on June 18, the Space of Mugam 6^th International Music Festival is being held with the organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Ministry of Culture, enjoying the support of the Ministry of Science and Education, and the National Conservatoire of Azerbaijan.
