Presentation of book ‘War and Our Historical and Cultural Monuments’ published due to support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation was held

Ceremony of presentation of book ‘War and Our Historical and Cultural Monuments’, published from series ‘Heydar Aliyev Foundation presents…’, was held on April 20.

Opening the ceremony chief executive of the Foundation Anar Elekberov said since its establishment the Foundation, governed by ideas of national leader Heydar Aliyev, has carried out several significant projects in field of providing the realities on our country to the world community, protecting and propagating our national and moral heritage. 

Talking of projects realized under leadership of Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva, President of the Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, chief executive mentioned creation in 2005 of ‘Azerbaijan’ Internet Portal containing over 4000-page information in various sections, making of the collection ‘Realities of Garabagh’ that was published in English, French, German, Hungarian and Russian languages. According to the assignment of the Foundation’s President and due to support of the Foundation, series of events on the 15th anniversary of Khojaly genocide was held this February-March in different cities all over the world and influential international organizations, a documentary ‘Khojaly genocide’ shown, exhibition of photos about the genocide organized. As continuation of series ‘Realities of Garabagh’, a publication ‘War against Azerbaijan: Targeting Cultural Heritage’ is under development along with Foreign Affairs Ministry. The book will include the large list of our cultural resources destructed and damaged as a result of Armenia-Azerbaijan, Daghlig Garabagh (Nagorno-Karabakh) conflict, photographs, space photos, maps, a film and a multimedia CD.     

Expressing gratitude to the body of Human Rights Institute of National Academy of Sciences for help in development of book ‘War and Our Historical and Cultural Monuments’, published due to support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, A.Elekberov said the Foundation will keep on supporting such projects.

Chairperson of State Committee for Work with Religious Entities Hidayat Orujov, academicians Bakir Nabiyev, Fuad Gasymzade, associate members of National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan Vasim Mammadaliyev, Shahbaz Muradov, Meshedikhanym Nematova, director of Human Rights Institute of National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, doctor of political sciences Rovshan Mustafayev, director of Russian Culture Studies Institute Kyrill Razlogov gave speech. 

Speakers highly appreciated the book, containing interesting and rich information on over 400 historical-cultural monuments, sanctuaries, mosques and temples in occupied lands of Azerbaijan, continuation of studies and events towards enlarging that list, discovering the monuments and sacred sites destroyed by Armenian occupants and delivering the facts of genocide against the culture and morality to the world community. Initiative actions of President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva in field of propaganda of Azerbaijani realities in the world, protection of our national and moral values and progress of our culture was highly assessed. Recalling the main features Mrs Aliyeva emphasizes in her foreword to the book the speakers expressed gratitude on behalf of the public of science and intellectuals to the First Lady of Azerbaijan for the support to the publication of book ‘War and Our Historical and Cultural Monuments’.

Attendees viewed the exhibition and publications of the Foundation at the lobby of the Foundation.
