Presentation of the book “My Life” by German composers of genius Richard Wagner takes place at the Heydar Aliyev Center

The book “My Life” by Richard Wagner (1813-1883), a German composer of genius, was printed in Azerbaijani, within a joint project by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Heydar Aliyev Center.


On April 4, presentation of the book took place at the Heydar Aliyev Center.


First, a video-film describing the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s activity towards developing and worldwide promotion of the Azerbaijani culture, at the same time, popularizing the world culture in Azerbaijan was demonstrated.


Then, information was given about the project.


Composer’s granddaughter Eva Wagner thanked Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva for the support provided to implementation of the project.


Author of two books about Richard Wagner, writer Ursula Oehme, Director of the Richard Wagner Museum Maria Berg and Vice-president of the International Richard Wagner Foundation Thomas Krakow delivered a speech.  They said publication of the great composer’s  memoirs in Azerbaijani was a significant event, and appreciated it as a valuable present to Richard Wagner’s 200th anniversary.


Large-scale projects implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Heydar Aliyev Center towards promoting culture and art were also talked about.


Ambassador of Germany to Azerbaijan Heidrun Tempel, People’s artist of Azerbaijan, Honoured Person of Art, composer Musa Mirzayev, editor of the book “My Life” by Richard Wagner, and President of “Azad Azerbaijan” TV and Radio Company Vugar Garadaghly too made a speech.


At the end of the ceremony, pieces from Wagner’s works were performed by the State Symphonic Orchestra of Azerbaijan, conducted by Honoured Person of Art Fakhraddin Kerimov.
